“Building the nation by building the family” yan ang laging maririnig mo sa aming community.
It simply means building the Philippines by building our families.
Why? Because our families are simply the basic entity of every community in every country.
Building your family cannot be done without help coming from your people or village.
The quality of your people is vital because it feeds your mind and the result is your actions.
Your actions on how you take charge of your family define your kids’ future.
So what does it take to build our families?
It all starts with our intentions.
What do you desire for your family?
What values do you want your kids to live with?
Do you want to instill the love of our country to them? How do you do it in this digital age?
What kind of memories do you want to leave them?
How can we build our families wisely? Being wise meant “sulit-tipid”.
Being “sulit-tipid” is maximizing every worth of our efforts, finances and every decision we make.
Being “sulit-tipid” mom or dad is being intentional parents.
We choose to be intentional in parenting.
The outpour of intentional parenting? That is homeschooling!
What do you want to know about homeschooling?
Tara, pag-aralan natin!

Exam Week | Homeschool

Hello! It's been a while, well that's because I've been studying and then taking tests for the past few weeks. Taking exams when you are homeshooled is way different from my expirience in traditional school. And here is why:

In traditional school, the teachers decide which exams you take first, but in homeschoolyou decide which exams to take first (Neat, isn't it?). Another thing is that the teachers always say: "Cover your papers and don't copy your seatmates' answers." in traditional school. But if you are a homeschooler, you are the only student in that year level, so you can't copy from anyone haha (Hey, what? It's called being honest!).

I also love that fact that there is no pressure in taking exams at home, no short time limit too unlike in traditional. It's more relaxed just like studying, so you understand and absorb the lessons even more. Oh, I have to go, we're checking my papers in a bit and I want to know how I did. Catch you later, alligator!

Piano Lessons At Home

I love music, and I love the piano. So, my grandfather gave me a keyboard that I can play at home.

To me, playing the keyboard is quite easy once I knew the basics, like identifying the different keys. But if you'd like to know, there are three things that you really need to remember:
  1. Practice
  2. Persistence, and
  3. Enthusiasm
Practice, well, of course everybody knows what practice is and, uh persistence means you keep trying and trying even if you keep falling (I'm not talking about falling off a plane). And enthusiasm means to be really excited about what you are doing. So far, I have learned the chorus of Let it Go from Frozen, Amazing Grace, a teeny bit of See you Again, and a really tiny bit from Bluestone Alley. Of course, if you're brand new (Of course, you're not for sale) to the keyboard, or the piano, I think you should get Usborne's First Book of the Keyboard. To me, the best thing about knowing very well how to play the piano or keyboard only from home is that you can surprise your friends and family by playing right in front of them the next time they come to your house for a visit, even the grown-ups! That would be nice, wouldn't it? A kid surprising a grown-up for a change. Oh yeah, right, how I learned from my comfy, cozy ordinary home? The answer is simple: I programmed the high quality browser, and calculated the path to the highly complicated VHS server. What? Confused? I was just kidding. It's really just one word: Youtube. I go to youtube and search for the kind of song I want to play. Like, for example: How to play ______ on the piano / _____ piano tutorial or something like that. And now, to answer a few questions before you ask. No, I didn't get help from my parents. No, I haven't actually completed any songs except for Amazing Grace, and No, I can't think of anything else that would be asked. Anyway, I hope you like this (Whoever you are) and Have FUN!

Homeschoolers Conquer Science Exhibit

This is my second year in homeschool and my parents promised me that this time we will be active in joining events like workshops and exhibits. My favorite subjects are Science and Art, so my parents were on the look out for activities on those 2 subjects.

Here is my Laser Projection Microscope, made out of Lego blocks, a laser pointer and syringe. My entry to the Homeschoolers Conquer Science event held last month at the Bayanihan Center last August 13. Here is how I made it: I had to make 2 structures out of Lego blocks, one to hold the laser pointer and one for the syringe. The trick is to align the laser pointer and the syringe so that the light would hit a droplet of liquid hanging from the tip of the syringe (NOTE: The needle of the syringe has been removed). I used the square frame to hold the red cartolina. The cartolina is there because the light has to hit a surface to show the bacteria (If we took it off, the light would get very big and would hit the wall!). The color of the paper is red so that the laser won't hurt anybody's eyes.

It was kind of busy that day because, well, everyone (even two of the judges.) came up to see how dirty, or clean, their hands were. By doing so, they answered Professor Lego's question (pictured above).( OK, If you can't read it, he says: How clean are your HANDS?) Turns out, people who touched something with starch on it, specifically a starch experiment, had the most bacteria, Talk about disgusting! Well, anyway, as I said earlier, lots of people saw how dirty their hands were and, as you can see in the picture above, my table is full of cups where people dipped their hands so that I could take some of the water to see the bacteria in their hands. It was a fun experiment to do.

My experiment got me in first place! These are my prizes: a Virtual Reality/VR Box and a Smartphone Science Microscope Kit. The sunglasses are NOT one of the prizes, they're a kind of thing with prices on it. The thing about the experiment was that it was interactive and original. We really wanted the project to be fun 4 everyone, and I mean, EVERYONE.
