So, one of my favorite and one of the first of Roald Dahl's books that I have added to my library is the book entitled Matilda and I have also watched the movie based on this book. So now, I'd like to compare the two:
Matilda Wormwood, as I know, is a young girl who loves to read (so do I). But she has some mean parents and a big brother who like to watch TV all day long. And at school, she has the kindest teacher she's ever had. But there is also the meanest headmistress that you could imagine, called Miss Trunchbull, who hates children, and in the end, Matilda got Miss Trunchbull, and her family to leave. At least, that's what both the book and the movie say.
The book seemed a bit shorter than the movie, but the movie left out a few things that the book said. For example, the movie said that Matilda played a few "pranks" on her family and showed that she turned her dad's hair a different color and glued his hat to his head. The book, on the other hand, said all this except it also said that Matilda had put a parrot in the fireplace and her family thought there was a ghost in the living room. The book also said that Matilda was moved to fifth grade. The film didn't say that. Oh yeah, and in the book, Matilda's mom was fat and her father was thin. In the film, it was the other way around!
Anyways, no matter how different the movie and the book are, Matilda is sure to be liked by kids all the same. I hope you liked this.
HAPPY READING!
